Johan graduated from the University of the Western Cape in 2005 with a Bachelors degree in Physiotherapy with Honours. In 2006 he completed the postgraduate Orthopedic Manipulative Therapy (OMT 1) certification through the Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy Group of the South African Society of Physiotherapy. Under the mentorship of Geoff Foat, he has furthered his education in the Mulligan Concept and in 2014 achieved international accreditation as a Certified Mulligan Practitioner – the first in South Africa! Johan has experience in a variety of orthopaedic outpatient and hospital settings and has worked throughout South Africa since qualifying. An avid sports enthusiast, Johan enjoys running, cycling and horse riding. His passion for sport extends to working at various sporting events, including the Cape Argus Cycle Tour, which he has also completed several times, and the Comrades Marathon. He also has a unique interest in Animal Physiotherapy, specifically in Equine Physiotherapy. “As his colleague and friend, I must also add that Johan has achieved all this and more as a visually challenged person. The clinical perspective he brings is invaluable and he is a remarkable asset to have on board.” – Geoff Foat on Johan's employment at POINTPHYSIO in Cape Town. In 2016 Johan and his family relocated to Stilbaai to found his own practice - Johan Uys Physio.
